1997 AQHA Red Dun Gelding
AQHA # 3643352

Finished bridle horse trained

in the traditional Vaquero method ridden

in all aspects of ranch work.

Let me start off by telling you a little about a finished bridle horse. Life seems to be too quick to take time to train a horse correctly. We are always trying to get our colts "bomb-proof" or "colts that anyone can get along with" but the truth is, that it takes time and patience to build and train a horse and make it worthy of carrying a spade bit. When a horse is broke enough to carry a spade bit, this is a honor and so should be treated as such. The person that rides that horse should also be as well trained, or never put something like that into the mouth of a animal. This is not a piece of equipment to pull and drag the horse around in, this is the result of centuries-old traditions, the Vaquero ways that takes a horse from a hackamore through the two rein and finally into the spade bit. This takes years and years of long hours and patience to communicate with the horse until that horse can be ridden with nothing on his head if so be it. You see, the spade bit is liken to a woman going to an important ball. She could wear just any necklace to the ball, and it would be fuctionable and serve the dress or she could wear a two carat diamond necklace and enhance the dress, add class and give a lasting impression. That spade bit is the diamond necklace, it adds class and gives the rider a lasting impression.

With all that said, "Dude" is worthy all right having always been ridden by professional horseman trained in the Vaquero traditions of horsemanship. He has been used in all aspects of ranch work including gathering, sorting, heading, heeling, dragging calves to the fire. Dude has won money in ranch roping, team sorting, team roping and ranch cutting. This horse doesn't get bothered by much as he has tons of experience having a job whenever he has been ridden. You don't need to feel you have to go do a fancy job with him, he would love to just take you on a nice leisurely trail ride. He has always been sound both physically and mentally and worth your attention.
